Driving up through the Paraparas towards the source
of the mighty Whangaunui River, I am always struck by the
patterns created by the repeating angles of the mountain ranges.
The flax drooping down from the high banks flowed into a
Maori-inspired pattern expressing the historical
significance of this spiritual place.
